Abstract
This research was conducted because the majority of 5-6-year-old children in Golo Jambu State Kindergarten have not been able to express language, understand language, and literacy properly. This is due to the lack of creativity and innovation in learning activities by the teacher, causing the learning process to not run well. The purpose of this study is to provide information on what methods the teacher uses to develop the language abilities of young children in Golo Jambu State Kindergarten. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with one subject, a teacher who teaches the B group (5-6 years old) in Golo Jambu State Kindergarten. The research instruments used were observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analysis using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. The results showed that the teacher in Golo Jambu State Kindergarten used several teaching methods such as storytelling, questioning, conversation, and assignment, which could help develop the language abilities of 5-6-year-old children in the institution. However, the methods used were still unable to improve the language abilities of the children. Therefore, it can be concluded that in addition to using varied teaching methods, the teacher must also increase motivation and the use of media variations in learning activities.
