LEARNING MEDIA IN DEVELOPING EARLY CHILDHOOD MOTORIC DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The early childhood period is a golden age marked by rapid changes in physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development, religious and moral values, art, self-concept, discipline, and independence. This period is crucial for laying the foundation for the development of these aspects. To ensure that this period is well navigated by every child, appropriate education and stimulation are necessary from an early age. The developmental aspects of a child are crucial, and one important aspect for early childhood is motor development. Motor development encompasses gross and fine motor development. Fine motor development is the process of developing fine muscles along with their functions. These fine muscles are responsible for specific movements of body parts such as writing, folding, assembling, buttoning clothes, pasting, and cutting. In order for physical/motor development activities to be carried out effectively, the use of tools and media is necessary. Media for developing physical/motor skills include real media, print media, still and moving visual media, and audio-visual media. Of all these media, the dominant ones used are real or concrete media and audio-visual media, both still and moving. The use of these media can develop gross motor skills through activities such as running, jumping, kicking, throwing, pushing, etc. While for fine motor development, activities such as drawing and tracing lines, stacking, shaping, drawing, coloring, cutting and pasting, folding, mosaic, collage, embroidery, finger painting, weaving, playing with playdough, etc. are necessary
