Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the changes in the characteristics of the fire produced by the combustion of chicken manure gas after being purified using activated charcoal as an adsorbent which includes the color of the flame, the temperature of the flame and the calorific value of combustion. The analysis was carried out by comparing the test data for bio gas before and after being purified. The bio gas sample used came from a bio gas digester with chicken manure ingredients without a mixture. The test was carried out by testing the bio gas without direct treatment from the digester pipe and continued with testing the bio gas after going through the purification equipment that had been prepared. The increase in the quality of the resulting fire correlated with an increase in the percentage of methane gas in the bio gas. The results of the analysis of the characteristics of the fire characteristics of the combustion of chicken bio gas with activated charcoal were averaged and compared to determine changes in the characteristics of the resulting fire. The test data showed an increase in the efficiency of absorbed heat by 46.94%, an increase in flame temperature by 42.66%, and an increase in the percentage of blue flame color by 10.22%. Purification of bio gas with activated charcoal still needs to be developed and combined with other adsorbents to increase the purity of the bio gas produced.
