PENDAMPINGAN MENGATASI KESULITAN SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEJURUAN DALAM MENCAPAI HASIL BELAJAR YANG EFEKTIF
Abstract
This mentoring activity aims to overcome the difficulties of students at Middle School in Manggarai in achieving effective ESP English learning outcomes. The main focus of this activity is students who take part in the nursing vocational high school program and have difficulty concentrating during class. In an effort to overcome this problem, we carried out community development activities at SMK Santa Mathilda Ruteng involving 25 students. This study used a qualitative training approach, and we used questionnaires, observations, and interviews as measurement tools to evaluate the extent to which students experienced changes in their understanding of English after attending the training. The end result of this service activity shows that students experience changes in their learning patterns, especially in understanding English. In addition, we identified several problems faced by students, including the significant influence of the supportive learning environment and atmosphere, limited practice time, lack of motivation, and an unsupportive classroom atmosphere. Based on these findings, we recommend that teachers provide adequate motivation to students to facilitate the learning process and help them achieve optimal learning outcomes. In addition, attention should also be paid to improving the learning environment and more effective time management. By paying attention to these aspects, students are expected to be able to face learning challenges better and achieve better ESP English learning outcomes. This mentoring activity makes an important contribution in improving students' understanding of English at SMK Santa Mathilda Ruteng. Through a holistic training approach, we hope to help students overcome their difficulties in learning and open up new opportunities for the development of their English skills.
