PENGGUNAAN PENDEKATAN ENGLISH FOR FUN DALAM MELATIH KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SMK PARIWISATA DI MANGGARAI

Abstract

Students at SMK Sadar Wisata face difficulties in speaking English due to a lack of motivation, self-confidence, and vocabulary. To address these challenges, intensive face-to-face assistance was provided to enhance their English speaking skills and overall language proficiency. The implementation of English for Fun: English Learning Assistance proved to be an effective solution in overcoming these issues. The primary objective of this service activity was to improve students' English speaking abilities and foster their motivation to continue learning the language. The program spanned a period of one month and incorporated various schemes, including problem analysis, comprehensive material explanations, engaging presentations, and personalized corrections. Throughout the assistance program, notable enthusiasm was observed among the students of Class X11 at SMK Sadar Wisata Ruteng. They actively participated in the activities and demonstrated an increased interest in speaking English. The assistance provided a conducive environment that encouraged students to practice and develop their language skills. As a result, their English proficiency exhibited significant improvement, and they gained confidence in expressing themselves in English. English for Fun: English Learning Assistance offered a comprehensive approach to language acquisition. It not only focused on vocabulary expansion but also emphasized the development of speaking skills and boosting self-confidence. The combination of regular face-to-face sessions, in which students received detailed explanations of language concepts, and interactive activities like presentations and personal corrections contributed to the overall effectiveness of the program. English Learning Assistance successfully addressed the main problems faced by students at SMK Sadar Wisata. By providing intensive face-to-face assistance, students' motivation, self-confidence, and vocabulary were significantly improved. The program fostered a positive learning environment, resulting in enhanced English language skills and increased confidence in speaking English. This service activity serves as a valuable model for addressing similar challenges in other educational institutions.
