Assistance for the Communal Lenten Catechesis and the 2026 Synod Year

Abstract

This article describes the implementation of community service (Community Service) in the form of the 2026 Lenten Action (Aksi Puasa Pembangunan - APP) People's Catechesis. The activity aims to facilitate the faithful in the Basic Christian Community (KBG) of Saint Joseph, Saint Michael Kumba Parish, Diocese of Ruteng, in building the Church and society both physically and spiritually during the Lenten season. The catechetical method employed was SOTARAE (Situation, Objective, Theme, Analysis, Summary, Action, and Evaluation), which was carried out through three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The catechetical process took place over two meetings in March 2026, addressing two central themes: "The Proclamation of the Word of God as the Source of Life for the Faithful" and "Communion (KBG) Walking Together in Brotherhood." Results indicated that the sessions progressed smoothly, with evaluations showing significant positive impacts. This catechesis proved effective in encouraging the faithful to engage in concrete personal and communal actions, while also strengthening the spirit of "walking together" in accordance with the mandate of the IV Synod of the Diocese of Ruteng.
