Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance by compares three methods of raising pig and identify marketing challenges in the pig fattening business of smallholder in East Nusa Tenggara Province. This research used cross-sectional data from the Central Statistics Agency Bureau of Indonesia, the 2014 Livestock Business Household Survey. A distinct test of the degree of profit in three methods of raising pig was the basis of the performance analysis. Proceed with a deeper analysis of the cost structure, which is separated into cash and non-cash costs. The findings revealed that penned system is more financially and economically prosperous. According to the cost structure study, it found that family labor, factory waste, and factory feed were the most common types of inputs used. The low price level often makes it difficult to market products, thus this area needs regulations about the pricing of pig.
