An Expert System With Forward-Chaining And Certainty Factor For Medicinal Plant Uses, Cases Study: Ethnobotany At Banyumas District, Central Java
Abstract
Ethnobotany is the study of the use of plants by a certain ethnic community. Generally, they use plants for traditional medicine, food crops, and customary purposes. However, not infrequently, the selection of medicinal plants is often wrong or wrong in treating a disease. Along with the development of artificial intelligence technology, it allows a computer-based system to assist an expert in a particular field, otherwise called an expert system. The expert system has the advantage of helping the work of experts or experts in solving a problem. This study aims to use an expert system with a certainty factor method whose inference machine is forward-chaining to provide options for using plants as medicine. Result of this study shows that the expert system provides a percentage of the level of confidence in providing recommendations for medicinal plants for a particular disease. Conclusion of this study is the expert system can be used to help an expert for diagnosing some disease with traditional plant medicine.
