Analysis Of The Socioeconomic Impacts Of The ASF Outbreak In NTT (Case Study: Contribution Of Household Income And Dynamics Of Pig Livestock Business In Kuwus Subdistrict, West Manggarai Regency)
Abstract
The pig farming business also plays an important role in providing animal protein to the community and contributes to increasing the economic income of farmers' households but is faced by the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak. The study aims to analyze the impact of socioeconomic losses of pig farmers due to the ASF outbreak and its epidemiligi dynamics in the Kuwus District, West Manggarai Regency. This study utilizes primary and secondary data based on questionnaires that will be interviewed and tabulated and analyzed by economics with the OLS (Ordinary Least Square) technique. The results showed that the percentage of deaths of pig livestock due to the ASF outbreak increased by 89.34%. The farmer motive factor is a factor of business continuation that strongly encourages farmers to raise pigs because the encouragement of the demands of social life or the social status of the community still depends on the role of livestock and pork. In the socioeconomic aspect, the largest percentage of losses is the consumption aspect, because the factor of scarcity of livestock and pork and the case of the spread of ASF indicate the presence of human intervention because it still refers to systems and maintenance patterns that are still semi-intensive.
