Curly chili (Capsicum annum L.) is one of the most widely developed horticultural crops in Indonesia. Curly chilies generally contain nutrients and vitamins including carbohydrates, protein, fat, calcium, vitamins A, B1 and vitamin C. Production of curly chilies often decreases. This is due to pest and disease attacks as well as land area becoming increasingly narrow and production costs increasing, forcing farmers to optimize land productivity. This research aims to determine the growth response and yield of curly chili plants in an intercropping pattern system and to determine the most optimal type of insert plant in curly chili intercropping. This research was carried out in Rowang Village, Langke Rembong District, Manggarai Regency, for 6 months from January to June 2024. This research used a non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) consisting of 4 treatment levels which were repeated 4 times, so that the results obtained 16 experimental units. The treatments given were T1 = Monoculture of Curly Chilies, T2 = Intercropping of Curly Chilies with Basil, T3 = Intercropping of Curly Chilies with Scallions, T4 = Intercropping of Curly Chilies with Celery. The results of the research showed that the intercropping treatment of several horticultural plants had a significant effect on the number of fruit, fruit weight of curly chili plants and the number of leaves of basil plants. The optimum intercropping treatment for the growth of curly chili plants is treatment T2 = intercropping curly chilies with basil.
