Crossbreeding local and Landrace pigs is a potential breeding strategy to increase meat production and reproductive performance. This article aims to examine the effects of crossbreeding local and Landrace pigs on growth, carcass yield, and litter size. The method used was a literature review, compiling relevant scientific articles from 2015–2025 from scientific databases such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and DOAJ. The study results indicate that crossbred pigs have better growth performance than local pigs, characterized by increased body weight, feed conversion efficiency, and higher carcass weight and percentage. Furthermore, litter size increases due to heterosis, which contributes to increased reproductive productivity of sows. However, several aspects of meat quality, such as drip loss and color, show differences compared to local pork. Overall, the local and Landrace pig crossbreeding program has the potential to increase meat production and reproductive productivity, but requires appropriate management and genetic selection to maintain product quality.
