Abstract

The success of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum in Indonesia is highly dependent on the teacher's understanding and implementation. This research was conducted by Madrasa Supervisors at five public elementary schools (MIN & MIS) with respondents consisting of 60 teacher respondents from five elementary schools in West Manggarai. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with 60 teacher respondents from five schools participating in this study. The research question that guided this research was: "How well do teachers understand the contents of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum?" The findings revealed that only 25% of the 30 teachers observed and interviewed had very good understanding of the curriculum. Another 35% have sufficient understanding, 25% understand a little, and 15% do not understand this new curriculum. These results indicate that there is a need for further training and professional development for teachers to fully understand and implement the Merdeka Learning curriculum. This study highlights the importance of providing more guidance and support for teachers to develop their pedagogical skills and knowledge, as well as offering opportunities to collaborate and share best practices among teachers. As such, this research provides insight into the challenges teachers face in implementing the Merdeka Learning curriculum and the need for ongoing support and professional development. These findings have implications for policy makers and education stakeholders in Indonesia who aim to improve the quality of education in the country.
