Abstract

Learning Indonesian must result in evaluations that can be measured through test instruments, namely questions. In fact, the Indonesian language test instrument is always inseparable from the text. The text in the Indonesian language test instrument can function as stimulation, especially in objective questions. In this connection, the text used in the test instrument must meet the feasibility standard. The feasibility standard in question is the construction of the argument in the text. This article offers a model of Toulmin's argument as a basic reference for evaluating the construction of text arguments in the Indonesian language test instrument. The basic framework of Toulmin's argument contains six basic variants, namely claims, data, warrant, modal qualifier, backing, and rebuttal. The data source of this research is casuistic, namely the test instrument for Indonesian language subjects at SMP St. Aloysius Lengko Ajang, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 Academic Years. Data were collected through the observation method, note-taking technique. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The analysis procedures were inventory, identification, and data meaning. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the quality of the text on the Indonesian language test instrument on the final exam questions in Indonesian Language subjects at SMPK St. Aloysius Lengko Ajang still needs to be improved.
