URGENSI DAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN MUATAN LOKAL BERBASIS BUDAYA MANGGARAI UNTUK MENUNJANG PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DI SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract

One strategy to shape the character of students is the development of local content learning. Local content learning has been implemented in elementary schools in Manggarai Regency. This is important in line with the phenomenon of deviant attitudes and behavior of students, such as being impolite with older people, disobedient, brawls, lazy, not creative, less concerned with others, using harsh words. This study aims to describe the urgency and model of local content subjects based on Manggarai culture in supporting the strengthening of character education in elementary schools. The results showed that local content based on culture is urgent if it is carried out systematically and consistently based on several principles, namely, the principles of relevance, effectiveness, flexibility, and differentiation. Furthermore, the local content learning models applied are  tae model (telling something), toming model (giving an example), pakep model (telling and giving an example), hae model (peer tutorial), lonto leok model (consensus). Through local content activities, students are expected to have various practical social skills, such as nenti ba weki (behave politely), bae mbate (knowing ancestral heritage), haeng tae (acquiring knowledge of cultural values), molor tombo (communication skills), nganceng pande (able to apply knowledge practically), to'o bombong (proud attitude towards one's own culture).
