Abstract

ABSTRACT

Background: The Emergency Department (ED) is one of the service units in the hospital that provides first aid and as the first entry point for patients with emergency conditions. Patient handling procedures in hospitals, especially in the Emergency Room, use a triage system. The frequent occurrence of various kinds of problems and complaints from family members and patients themselves is due to a lack of knowledge about how the triage management procedure or process is used.

Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of the patient's family about triage management in the emergency room of Ruteng Hospital.

Method: This type of research uses quantitative descriptive research. The number of samples in this study were 147 respondents with sampling techniques using accidental sampling techniques. This research was conducted on April 22 to May 22, 2024 in the Emergency Room of Ruteng Hospital. Results: The results of this study show data that the families of patients who come to visit and seek treatment at the Emergency Room of Ruteng Hospital have good to poor knowledge. The majority of respondents had sufficient knowledge as many as 67 respondents (45.6%), respondents who had less knowledge were 44 respondents (29.9%), and respondents who had good knowledge were 36 respondents (24.5%).

Conclusion: The results of family and patient knowledge in this study are still in the sufficient category. To overcome this problem, it is hoped that the hospital will provide education or health education to families or the community in the implementation of triage, to reduce the level of complaints or problems from the patient's family during the implementation of triage in the emergency room
