Keywords:
stunting, development, toddlersAbstract
Background: Stunting is a health problem resulting from inadequate nutritional intake during the pregnancy process up to the toddler years or what is called the first 1000 days of life (HPK) until the age of 5 years. Stunting has an impact on children's development, including gross and fine motor skills, speech and language, as well as delayed social independence. These developmental disorders can be measured using a simple measuring instrument called the pre-development screening questionnaire (KPSP).
Objective: This research aims to determine the effect of stunting on the development of children under five
Method: The research method was an observational analytical study, with a cross sectional design approach. The research was carried out in Sita Village, Rana Mese District, East Manggarai Regency, in January – March 2023. The population and sample of children under five were 54 people with stunting. The sampling technique used was Total Sampling. Data analysis uses univariate and bivariate analysis.
Result: The research results show that there was a significant relationship between the incidence of stunting and child development seen from the p value < 0.05
Conclusion: there was a significant relationship between the incidence of stunting and the development of gross and fine motor skills, speech and language as well as social independence in stunted children. It was hoped that this research will become a policy basis for implementing continuous monitoring of children's development.
